How does Cookie Monster work?

I think I read somewhere that it was a garden glove attached to deflated basketball. Am I remembering that right?

I don't know about the deflated basketball, and I never saw the glove (didn't turn him inside out), I only felt it. It could have easily been a garden glove, because those are very easy to slip on your hand.

There are probably no "inside the head" photos since the building of the character is a secret. Building a Cookie Monster will be a trial by error process no matter how you look at it.

I would suggest using cheap fabric and creating the puppet using the Borsha Puppet pattern found at Project Puppet as a starting point.

I don't know if someone else already posted this link but it goes through the process of building a "cookie monsteresque" type puppet:
http://www.consumermonster.com/ (click on the DIY title located on the left hand column) Although crudely built... and it looks nothing like Cookie Monster....it should provide you with a clear understanding of the process. I think I would have used contact cement instead of green painters tape to keep the foam pieces together. LOL Needless to say a alright tutorial.

Anyway, once you get the basic pattern; then simply dismantle the puppet and use the pieces as your pattern to create (in good) the Cookie Monster of your dreams.
