I was just wondering everyone's professions! It is interesting reading your posts and knowing a lil more about your background... Just curious!

I manage a local toy shop for a few days a week and freelance toy, web and graphic design the rest of the time. It's not easy, but creatively rewarding and a lot more fun than ditch-digging.

That IS interesting! There used to be the most amazing local toy shop where i lived in Vermont... but down here in Florida, all I have is a Toys-R-Us... :frown: Is it a toy/hobby shop? Do you sell atypical board games and Roleplaying games?

We sell all sorts of things, but usually the board games etc are around only in the holiday season. Action Figure Freddy is mostly about figures. Palisades' Johnny Fiama that I worked on is here in the shop. It's a fun store. Lots of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, urban vinyl, Neca figures and specialty items. It also gets me out from my client work behind my computer located in a red-light-district apartment and into downtown San Francisco to meet actual real-live people. I'm pretty good at it too. However, something always makes my feet cold in the store. I think we have a ghost cat that sleeps on my feet.

So, how do you make the moneys?

I work with kids with multiple severe disabilities. Right now I am teaching in a classroom with 5 kids. One has cerebral palsy, one is severely autistic, one was premature, one has a disorder that doesn't allow him to make cholesterol, and one has a had seizure disorder. It is the BEST job EVER! And they love Elmo... (and Barney... but Im working on that)

I've worked as a nurse's aide, but lifting people twice my weight really didn't do my joints any favors. I've been a tax preparer for two seasons at different companies. I taught fourth grade. I've vowed celibacy and a ban on children forever more. :stick_out_tongue: Over the last 2 years I've been a nursing student. I'm taking the NCLEX (the licensure exam) Jan 29. The goal is to be a nurse. I also hope to have some software written up that, I hope, will revolutionize pre-doctor visit stuff.

edit: In between the teacher and nursing student gig, I've been a cashier/supervisor/manager.

That does sound rewarding. It takes a special kind of person with a lot of patience to do that sort of work. It's so important that such kids have a place they are valued so that they can grow. It's great that you give them that. :super:

Wow... big difference between nurse and kids and taxes! I thought about being a nurse... but I was recently in the hospital for about a week and on a ton of medication, and I noticed that I was being super super mean to my nurse... after I noticed it, I apologized profusely(cause I usually try to go out of my way to be nice to people!)... and she just said it was the medication and it happened all the time... Oh my goodness! I wouldnt be able to deal with people being mean to me all the time! Even if it is the morphine talkin! I have a million respect for you, in doing nursing... it is a noble noble profession! Good luck on your test!

Well, to be honest ... I have a bad knee and hip. My back sometimes hurts due to an injury. I wouldn't be able to be a floor nurse for long. My ultimate goal is nursing management or consultation.

I work at Starbucks. I make caffine-laden beverages for people, often before the crack of dawn. But for the most part it's okay. I enjoy the study and prep of coffee.
I am also a college student, which explains why I work at Starbucks. I'm going to school for Writing and Directing Films and TV. I also enjoy acting and performing. I'm hoping that I will be able to call any of that my profession soon. I have worked on some films already as a Production Manager, Coordinator and Script Supervisor.
