How do you get rid of the scratches off of the record?

Toothpaste is abrasive, it probably would have caused more scratches.

"Justify My Love" (ie. one track) was scratching on my Madonna CD. So i asked my dad what I should do and he said put toothpaste on the base of the CD. Unfortunately that was the wrong thing to do and now the whole CD is broken...
How many times in a row had you played the CD? Maybe your dad was sick of it.
