For me, I actually had to watch it more than once before I really got it. The junior high kids I work with at my church were obessed with it last year so I let them watch it since it's not too bad offensive wise. I didn't get it. I watched it about two weeks later with my fiance and started getting into it. I saw it again a couple of months later and decided it's unbelievably funny. So, I guess what I'm saying is, maybe it takes some time to love it.

In all honesty, I din't get all the hype about this movie. I knew people like this in school (literally) so it wasn't all that funny since I've already seen a lot of these kinds of things happen. From a traditional, plot structure sense, this movie fails -- it lacks a true plot and contains an awful lot of unnecessary scenes (like that part out in the desert...what was that for???). However, if you look at it more as a series of unconnected character sketches, it will be more enjoyable. It is definately not a film I'd get the DVD of (aside from it being overpriced), but seeing it once was enjoyable enough. Then again, making awful movies seems to be popular in the film fesitvals these days (the unfortunate drawback of being a mass communications major). Who knows.

I guess its just funnier if you don't know anybody thats like Napoleon...

I've read everyone's thoughts on this and yes, a lot of what you all pointed out makes sense.
After some thought, I think a major contributing factor was this:
When you watch a movie with someone (ie husband) who has preconceived (negative) notions of the movie is about, then it's harder to enjoy it fully, because what you (ie me the wife) end up doing is glancing over and kinda saying, "That was funny, wasn't it? Did you like that part?" So maybe I'll have to watch it either a) by myself or b) with someone a little more open minded.

Yeah, you have a good point there. Usually it IS best just to watch a movie by yourself without someone to point out all the various plot holes or make various "watch this, its hilarious!" comments. IE, don't watch Star Wars movies with me ("DId you see that? ::rewinds dvd and pauses:: That's a [insert obscure alien species name here]! I have one of those as an action figure, want to see it?).

Alright, so I'm not THAT bad...

I personally laughed my butt off (it's now held on with Duck tape). I think it's because I know people like that...

It takes a sophomoric (in a good way) sense of humor or a twisted (in a good way) sense of humor to enjoy it.

Flippin' hilarious...now I'm going to go practice my bo staff so I can have skills....

I'm just as bad with Natural Born Killers. I have the dang thing memorized.

And it would be fun to watch Star Wars with you, because I need to be more up to date on my SW trivia. Seriously. I don't think I've watched it start to finish YET!!! :embarrassed:
