Here is a Big clue In the Movie it is said why they are not there.

Well I', pretty sure Rowlf was there. There may be more than 2 classic characters missing, but I know the 2 being talked about.

And now for the answer.

The 2 missing are Statler and Waldorf. When Waldorf says he got 2 tickets Statler asks if they are good seats and Statler says Yes because they are for the next bus (or train, or plane I forget) out of town. And that is why they were not there.

Rowlf & Sweetums?

I definitley remember seeing Rowlf there, 'cause he had a funny moment, he started crying during the wedding and Fozzie (I believe) shooshed him.
