Sam: I am not a pelican, I am the proud symbol of this nation.

Aly: Well, the pelican's the proud symbol of my home-state.

Sam: Even more reason to dislike it. *get hugged*

Aly: Aww...*turns back to TV screen*

Delilah:
And the votes are in. The Pomeranian is the winner.

Maggie: *disappointed the border collie didn't win* This contest is rigged.

Delilah:
And that's exactly what Aly said when Adam lost on last year's American Idol.

Aly: Because it was. *pouty face*

Delilah: Team Kris, for the win!

Aly: *evil eye*

Sam: Would you please stop poking me?

Maggie: Ooh...Can I try? *also pokes him*

Sam: This is so undignified.

Aly: *high-fives* Bayou State, for the win!

Maggie: Yeah! It's one of the 17 states that sells Blue Belle ice cream!

Delilah:
Any Liverpudlians here? It's the Beatles' hometown!

Delilah: Liverpool? Anyone? Going once, twice...

Aly: *to Ailie* If it helps, where I live is geographically closer to the capitol than New Orleans.

*Uncle D's playing a soft lullaby on the pipe organ.
Me, *thinking: Hmm, I wonder if Squeaky got the spare guest key so she can crash here whenever she's able to pop in for a while. Oh well. *Tries to go back to sleep. Zzzzz...

Delilah and Aly are arguing over a subject brought up last night

Delilah:
I just can't believe that you prefer Adam over Kris!

Aly: And why is Kris so much better?

Delilah: Because...he just is!

Maggie: So if Aly is American, and Delilah is British...

Sam: *nods* It's like the Revolution all over again. But I'm not certain I want such a freako representing this proud nation.

Maggie:
Are you talking about her or Adam Lambert?

Sam:
Both.

See... That's why I don't watch American Idol or any other programs of its ilk. It's much better to just laugh with all the jabs invected upon them by The Soup hosted by Joel McHale.
BTW: *Leaves a box of oatmeal raisin cookies for Aly and her roomies. Hope you like.

*Sends a couple of presents via scare mail.
*A box with a ratty tattered ballcap stained with some murky marinara arrives at Room #14 grunting a Rotten Birthday to Oscar.
*Another box with a trio of smooth perfect blue rollies is left at Room #10, as well as another box of cookies and a card saying Happy Birthday to Tosh.

Me- (watching baseball on TV) Ah... there's nothing better than relaxing and watching baseball.

Ojo- I love baseball! One time Bear and I were playing baseball and he pitched the ball to me super fast. I hit the ball so high, it nearly went over the Big Blue House!

Me- Wow! Where did the ball go?

Ojo- It hit Treelo who was hanging on a tree branch. (sigh) It took him a week to forgive me.

Me- As much as I love baseball, basketball is better. Y'know what? Basketball should be America's pastime, not baseball. Who came up with that, anyway?

The people who were playing baseball's original form about a good half a century before they started playing basketball in its original form.

*Phew. Wipes sweat off
of forehead. Good thing we got the fan on...
*Uncle D gets the grill going to make some bat-burgers for afternoon lunch.
Mmm, hope there'll be some fries too. :hungry:

Erin: (hauling ice cream maker out of its box) Well, let's see how the old clunker works this time.
Storyteller: It certainly looks better. When did it come in?
Scooter: Yesterday - Luis said all he had to do was put in some new gears and an O-ring - and put the casing back together.
Nora: Which must have been no mean feat - I'm remembering what it looked like after Death by Chocolate Ice Cream.
Beige: With nuts and marshmallows. Let's hope it works this time - I've got a really wicked craving for triple fudge deluxe.

Erin: Here goes. (flips switch, machine whirs to life)
Storyteller: (in mad scientist tone) It's alive!

(Everyone makes a scramble for the fridge, where the mixtures for several flavors of ice cream have been chilling for the last little while.)
Nora: No way we're going to be able to eat all this. (pours pistachio ice cream into mixer) Scooter, send a message out saying that there's going to be ice cream in room 7 for anyone who wants some.
Scooter: Right.

A short time later, this notice appears in the common room:

To all residents:
There will be ice cream in room 7 within the next hour. Everyone's welcome to stop by. Yes, we do have chocolate sauce and butterscotch sauce.
