Henson shows that need to be on DVD

Okies . . . I was thinking about this the other day . . . cause there are several of the Henson/Muppet movies and shows that I watched as a I child that have yet to appear on DVD . . . and are practically impossible to find on VHS . . . and rarely shown on TV these days . . . And VHS not being a reliable medium, as tapes do wear out eventually - having these on DVD, in crystal clear picture and sound, possibly with some nice extras, would rock!
These are my picks . . .

5. The Muppet Musicians of Bremen - This is probably one of the most often ignored and forgotten of the Henson/Muppet projects. I remember how excited my mother was about it coming on television the first time I saw it - because she loved it and wanted to share it with me. It's a sweet, well-done story - I think it deserves to be brought to the public eye again.

4. Hey Cinderella - I vaguely remember this one - that's how few times I've seen it on TV. It's hard to find on video for a decent price. I do remember it being fairly good - would be nice to be able to have it to share with my children some day.

3. The Frog Prince - "Bake the hall in the candle of her brain!" Need I say more? I remember watching this movie lots when I was 3 or 4 - it's been years since I've seen it properly. This movie is fairly well known and desperately deserves DVD treatment!

2. Tale of the Bunny Picnic - This is another one I watched frequently as a child. I have it on tape - but the tape is, sadly, wearing out! My mother still jokingly quotes the farmer in this movie saying, "Dawg!" when she talks to my father's mini schnauzer! This movie is the cutest, possibly one of the best Henson ever did outside of the Muppet stuff and the fantasy worlds. It's also the movie that introduced sweet, adorable little Bean Bunny to the world! We need some more Bean Bunny!

1. Fraggle Rock - I know there's a petition going for this one - and last I checked, there were well over 14,000 signatures. And yes, I realize that you can download episodes on Kazaa - but the picture and sound on most of the episodes aren't very good! When is someone gonna wake up and do something about putting this wonderful show back on the air, be it via DVD, video, or even just running it on television? :smirk: With the kind of world we live in today and the true lack of good children's television programming nowadays - this show is just the ticket. What can be better than a show that promotes love, understanding, peace, and harmony, and actually does so through a real plot? Not only that - but the music's fun, and it's one of those rare, rare shows that parents and adults even enjoy watching! I watched this show as a 5 year old - and even today, at almost 22 years of age - I love it and collect stuff from it! And I know I'm not the only one! C'mon, bring back the magic!

I know everyone's got an opinion on this subject . . . so feel free to respond with your thoughts, agreements, and suggestions for other movies and shows from the Henson/Muppet vault that you think deserve to get the DVD treatment! I can't wait to hear them! :excited:

I agree that many Henson works should get the DVD treatment. I am a big fan of TV Shows on DVD, and would love to see many shows on DVD.

Buena Vista (AKA Disney) owns the rights to Dinosaurs. They produced/distrubuted the show. I think they still have rights (or parts of them).

Here are some other threads about getting Henson shows getting onto DVD, or wishes for future releases.

Where did you hear that HIT has the rights to Dinosaurs?

It was always a Walt Disney Television Production made in conjuction with both Jim Henson and Michela Jocobs (Boy Meets World) Productions with Buena Vista Home Video releasing a few tapes back in the early '90s.

We all know how stingy Disney it with their copyrights so I would highly doubt they let this series fall out of their grasp.
