Thanks Everyone for the help and ideas!
WES: I will definately make a mock up in paper... I already made a mini mock up in foam, using John Keneedy's book... but I did not cover with fleece or anything to that effect.
MR.BUCK: I have read so many of your posts and gleaned quite a bit of wisdom from you! Thank you so much for pointing to the wedge pattern! I can't wait to experiment with it!
RockerRob: I originally enlarged the pattern to 102%, as I had bought the Glorified Sock Puppet pattern, and made it as is, and it was a bit snug on my hand... So I figured I needed to go the bigger route. I did not realize I should have gone to around 110%. I love the roly, but it is still not the same style as a muppet, still looks like a sock puppet... just on steroids!
And
Bezalel, you already know I love your patterns and company... so I am not saying that the Roly is a bad pattern, it just did not work for this project. The puppet I did create from the Roly, is just a cute as Vinnie my GSP. ( I had to put in this disclaimer, as I don't want anybody to think that I am saying the roly is a bad pattern! I freakin LOVE
ProjectPuppet.com! and will eventually own every single pattern they make!)
Teenagers: Great advice again! I want to learn to carve foam, so that I can create definition in their bodies etc... I will use PP's Arm pattern, as it is one of the best out there (in my opinion), but again, learning to put all the pieces together is going to take some time and experimentation.
That is the great thing about this forum, so many people who offer ideas and helpful criticism... I for one as a new puppet builder really appreciate it.
