I need some assistance identifying the manufacturer of two Statler & Waldorf dolls I just listed on ebay. They are very high quality. I bought them from the Netherlands a few years ago and paid quite a bit of money for them at the time.

I am wondering whether they were made by Igel. I can't find anything on them to identify the manufacturer.

The auction number is 110863658679

Thanks In Advance.

No, these aren't Sababa. At least not the Sababa ones I find on the Internet.

I tried to look under the clothing but didn't want to remove everything. I didn't see any tags. From information I find on the internet, it seems that the Igel dolls were rereleased at some point? It is for that reason that I am wondering if that's the reason mine don't match exactly the Igel doll images I do find.

Sabada rereleased them, but whats perplexing me is that yours say "beanie" on the tag, and Igel apparently did not release them as beanies. They released toys with hard (whatever that means) heads in 1999 and as large Life size dolls, and sabada rereleased them as 18 inch plushes with a quote on the tag, neither of which match yours. And yet detail wise they look exactly like yours except for the shoes. Its very strange

These are not Igel or Sababa. They were produced in 2003 by a German company called Heunec. Though they no longer make Muppet plush, the company's site is here:

http://www.heunec.de/

These are very much like the Igel ones, but they did not come in a box, and they do not have the hard flocked heads -- they are 100% plush. They call them "beanies," but they're actually fairly large. (Though nowhere near as large as the 4-foot Sababa ones.) Frankly, they're some of the nicest Statler & Waldorf plushes ever released -- in some ways, I prefer them to their Igel counterparts.

Heunec also released posable plush, beanies (smaller than Statler & Waldorf), and backpacks of Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, Miss Piggy, Animal & the Swedish Chef. They also releases plush & beanie Camilla & Rizzo, as well.

All in all, it's a very nice line of products. I have all of them.
