I remember a MS skit where Helen Reddy was in a recording booth singing a song that went like this.

"How can you be happy?
How can you be smiling?
How can you be anything but low down, saggy, and blue?"

Does anybody know the title of that song? I'd like to get a copy of that original song.

Helen Reddy is really quite a fine singer. I also loved hearing her singing, "We'll Sing in the Sunshine", and the songs of the movie Pete's Dragon. I've never heard singing like hers before.

If you buy a best of Helen Reddy album both of those songs will be on the disc, And one or two from Petes Dragon. Otherwise like me, You can buy her first four albums on TWO DISCS! and then the Petes Dragon soundtrack on a Disney CD Album!

I love Helen Reddy to but I was also curious as to what the first song she sings on the muppet show actually called - because I don't have it but I'd be willing to buy it.

Thank you Warrick for your info. I'll have to get that album after the holidays.

And I also found out that song Helen sang on TMS was called, Blue. It was also sung by a blue camel in the Raggedy Ann and Andy movie. I've never heard such a beautiful song like it.

Camel song Blue

I have the video to Raggedy Ann & Andy:A Musical Adventure(I remember seeing it on the big screen).

When you,can't find a friend,
And the road doesn't seem to end,
And your lonesome, the whole day through.

How can you be happy?
How can you be smiling?
How can you be,anything;but low-down,saggy and blue?

When there's nothing to share, and you don't have a dime to spare,
And there's no-one to comfort you.

How can you be smiling?
How can you be singing?
How can you be anything;but low-down saggy and blue.

I look around, and see the sweet life everywhere,
I watch the cookie-bushes shining,in the sun.
The smell of sweet vanilla-lemon,blows in every breath of air.
Doesn't anybody want me?
Doesn't anybody care?

When your wrinkled and cold,
And your fortune has all been told,
And your nobody's 'I love you'.

How can you be happy?
How can you be smiling?
How can you be anything;but low-down,saggy & blue?
(sad but true)
How can you be happy?
How can you be singing?
How can you be anything;but low-down saggy & rag-bag baggy...and blue?

(dialog)

When your wrinkled and cold,
And your fortune has all been told,
And your nobody's 'I love you'.

How can you be happy?
How can you be smiling?
How can you be anything;but low-down,saggy & blue?
(sad but true)
How can you be happy?
How can you be singing?
How can you be anything;but low-down saggy & rag-bag baggy...and blue?

Thanks so much, JaniceFerSure for the lyrics to that wonderful song. Now I can remember them anytime I want.

And I think it's cool you got that classic movie on video. I hope to get that movie someday.

Thanks & your welcome Xerus.I had to order the video. That movie has very well drawn animation,I've always appreciated it,not to mention some very famous actors doing the voice overs.I listened to the lyrics on tape, and then I typed them during the song.I also had the movie soundtrack album as a kid.

Its also worth noting that the song was written by Sesame Street Composer Joe Raposo!
