Yeah I get it  Don't forget the Muppets are owned by Disney now though. And I really don't know what will come out of that. Perhaps the Muppets will never be the same.

I agree that the Oz TV Special is a step into the right direction. I'm very curious about it myself. But I think it'll be awhile before it will be aired here. I'd probably have to buy it on DVD then if I want to see it. Or wait a few years. But I'm used to that

I hafta' disagree... slightly. The evolution of the American language comes into play here which loses what the focal point of a couple of these words mean. "Edgy" now means "controversial". When what it's supposed to mean is pushing the creative envelopes. I like Crank Yankers sometimes, it is funny just like many shows today, but there has been a steady decline in the quality of all these shows with the relying end leaning on being controversial. A d*** and fart joke have their place, but when that's all you rely on, it gets old so fast. The time needs to be taken to write actual humor and variety. The Muppets were edgy because they were different, new and still bold. Having this advantage, they became beloved. The Muppets do not need to be edgy as in controversial, gross, sexual, lude or parading against censorship, they need to be bold and approach the medium as if fresh and bright. We confuse vulgarity with humor too often, and it's just not entertaining in full doses.

"I can't say I didn't like Greg the Bunny. Can't say I liked it either. To me it seemed like not enough time went into the writing"

If you check out the DVD there is some debate by everyone on the networks meddling in the writing. They wanted it more traditional sitcomish...

Pee pee, poo poo, and D&F jokes are the anathema of edgy. to me edgy is referencing obscure or potentially volatile hot button things...but that may fly past the head of most audience members. If you have sexual humor presented in a sly way to where only adults would get it, that is where the Mupepts have thrived on.

Ive seen threads or topics where people cant believe the Mupepts have done anything but pure as the driven snow Kermit and Elmo singalongs. But the Mupepts are never meant to truly corss over the line(with the exception of Land of Gorch)

Sadly in this new disnified sterile era, the edge is long gone(even the somewhat eyebrow raising Statler/Waldorf movies.com thing was taken off quickly)

All I want to say is thank you for introducing me to a new word. Anathema will be my latest conquest at dictionary.com.
