And I've noticed three or four instances where segments with Harvey Kneeslapper got replaced (it doesn't seem like other old school characters have been cut).
One thing I thought about is that those segments have ending music. I wonder if Joe Raposo wrote the music at the end of those (and how many non-music segments - meaning segments that weren't primarily musical - feature underscores by Raposo?). Of course I think the music could have easily been cut or replaced. Even if Sesame Workshop no longer has music-free versions of those sketches (and I don't know either way), there's not really any talking when the music plays (maybe a little of Harvey's laughter), so they could just cut and replace the music without drowning out dialogue.

Here are more fun statistics for you: 13 episodes were edited for season 41, 10 for 42, 8 for 43, 7 for 44, and 6 for 45. So season 41 had most edits, 45 had least.

You know, bumping this up, I haven't watched HBO's Sesame Street but I have thought of watching some classic episodes just to get the nostalgia feel like I did when I was ten years old watching 123 Sesame Street in 2003.

Honestly I don't know the case of Raposo's music but it just sounds like to me, the people in charge of his music just want nothing to do with Sesame Street.

It's music rights issues like this that do make me roll my eyes since pretty much most, if not all, the songs were written for the show, but at the end of the day, all we can really do is vent about it and that won't change anything.
