When I was a young girl, I was too poor for birthdays. I would watch other kids at birthday parties in the neighborhood from afar. Oh my, such sorrow. But now, I enjoy not only my own but that of others! If I could, I would give you each a party! And I would, too!

Yes, when I was living in the US, after my 21st birthday, we stopped celebrating. Then I moved to Germany and the first thing my in-laws wanted to know was when my birthday was. So, every year, we go out to dinner on my birthday and gather with friends. It's a wonderful thing to be able to commemorate a year that has passed.

Nice idea, Hope.

Happy Birthday to all October birthdays. Today's my favorite singer's birthday, too, so it's nice to make note of this today.
