The method I use is very similar to Bucks except instead of putting brass tubing in the puppets hand, I use the tubing from a nasal cannula (this is just the tube that connects from like an oxygen tank to the actual mask that goes over your face). You should be able to get them at most any pharmacy. I just cut a section off, tape up the end & then sandwich it between the two hand pieces (of foam). Since it comes wound in a circle in the package, when you cut it, it has a bit of a curve to it, so it's not just straight up & down in the hand, which is nice. I am currently (until I find something better) using wire coat hangers - the end that goes into the tubing (puppet's hand) is bent at about a 45 degree angle & it fits beautifully into the tubing. I am still looking for the tool dip to dip the handle in - it's very hard to find in my area...but anyway, hope that helps. The nasal cannula should just be a couple of bucks, but it's 7 ft. long so that'll go for quite a few puppets.
