Pretty much what I'm doing with my mom's pumpkins this year: painting Ernie and Bert on them.

Ooh, that's a good idea. I think we may be getting plastic pumpkins this year though, so we don't have to worry about hollowing them out (which we always forget to do, somehow).

Well, my mom prefers having her pumpkins painted rather than carved into jack-o-lanterns anyway, and she usually has an idea of what she wants painted on them year after year (last year was the biggest chore yet: she got a giant pumpkin and wanted Radagast and his Rhosgobel Rabbits from THE HOBBIT painted all the way around it), but I figured I'd surprise her this year since she's always wanting two different pumpkins every year.
