Guide to Fraggle Floorwork

I spent a very interesting hour yesterday reading through a friend's copy of The Guide to Fraggle Floorwork, by Amy Van Gilder, which details rigging etc for Fraggle Rock. Until then I was unaware of it's existence. Lot's of nice Muppet making facts etc in it. I for one was unaware that Fraggle arms were attached with press studs, and that Jerry Nelson used to operate the tail wire by tucking the dowel into his rolled up right sleeve.

Interesting...I hadn't heard of that. It's a book I assume? Where did you find it?

Yea it's a book, written by Amy V.G. as a guide for other productions of Fraggle Rock. It was in a friend's library (he worked on the European Fraggle series as a rigger, assistant puppeteer and the classy job of the hind end of Sprocket!)

Lots of nice bits of info and some cute sketches, references to various construction techniques, glues, enamels/paints, eyes, etc. This makes me wonder if there are guides out there for other shows written by the various workshops...hmmm....but where to find them!!

sounds to me like you just got lucky, most of the guides, or "SHOW BIBLES", are kept by the production at the end of a show, seems like one got out.i would learn all i could form it if i was you, u are not likely to find another one,

That's cool about Gobo's tail. Very interesting, I wish my library had cool books on the Muppets... heck I wish my library had any books on the Muppets!

Just to clarify by library I meant my friends personal collection of books, but he's got enough puppet books to class it as a personal library.
