What was interesting about this skit was that Guy wasn't talking in his loud game show voice. Instead he was speaking in a soft normal voice.

I can't remember much of it. But I remember Guy telling the crowd, "Face the front everyone. Face the front."

And when Grover was missing, Guy said, "Take the stairs."

All I can remember is that they trampled on Grover when they entered the elevator. And when they couldn't find him, they suggested that they all take the stairs. And Guy repeated, "Take the stairs."

If this is the one I'm thinking of, Grover repeatedly told the passengers on the elevator to "face the front", but they were all facing the rear of the car. At one point he told them, on the count of 3, to "turn completely around." They turned around all right, 360 degrees.

Was this how it ended: everyone left the elevator for the stairs, and Grover was left standing there by himself. Normally, Grover's catchphrase on this, presumably the ground floor, was "Going up!". But this time he stood there and sadly said "Going down?", after which we saw Grover move downward, vertically, independent of the position of the elevator car.

With the advent of the self-service lift, I wonder how many of today's kids have even heard of an elevator operator?
