Hey, Folks!

I've been a lurker on this board for a while. I finally enrolled about a few months back with the intent of posting, but... I'm not the most extroverted person.

However, one of my New Year's Resolutions was to reach out to people a little more. And since you all have given me so much insight, inspiration, and enjoyment (not to mention many great breaks from my workdays!), I thought I'd offer a bit of myself back to you.
For the last year, I've been doing a (not very regular) podcast called "Sermon On The Trash Heap". It's not a Henson fansite or podcast, because Ryan, Steve, and the folks at ToughPigs already do those better than I could ever hope to.

Sermon On The Trash Heap is really more my attempts to figure things out, using the many worlds of Jim Henson to help gain some clarity. But I also reference poems, movies, songs, philosophers, medical studies, history, whatever. Anything I can pull from the trash heap of my mind to try to make sense of life as we know it. And hopefully provide some insight for others who might listen.

If you're interested, you can download podcasts directly from the website, or from iTunes. I also have a Facebook page where I post items I find interesting sometimes.

Thanks again for all of the great conversations you all have here. Just know that there is at least one person who has really been listening to what you have to say, and I feel like I know a lot of you, despite you not knowing I existed. I'll try to join in, in the new year!

Sincerely,
Andrew from the Trash Heap

...p.s.: Hope to hear from you more! May I recommend posting on the "You Might Be an Obsessed Muppet Fan" or the "What Made You Smile Today?" Thread. Always like to hear more of those posts, and isn't the first one absolutely HILARIOUS?

Hi, SOTTH! I'd like to see your podcasts, too! And I'm glad I'm not the only introvert-lurker around here.
I just have to say that I love a good philosophy, and I can't wait to hear your life ideas concerning Muppets! Glad to have you on the site!

Thanks, Fraggline! I hope you get a chance to listen and enjoy it!

I'm up late tonight mixing the podcast for release Monday. Up this week: Gonzo The Great as existential archetype / inspiration! :concern:

Cool site, SOTTH. I also appreciate the reference to most likely the most famous sermon ever- Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7)
I like the idea of your site- exploring the deeper philosophical, ideological, and perhaps even theological and spiritual issues addressed by pop culture- even The Muppets. I can definitely agree that you can find a good few things in those categories in the Muppets' universe. (Of course, this is true for most any media- even "Seinfeld", the show about nothing, still speaks to topics like mundaneness and relationships and philosophy, theology and all those issues I mentioned. So this either means that there may be too much extrapolation in some cases, or that deep down there is some meaning imbued in every media communication out there- sometimes on different levels.
So yeah- interesting site. Glad to have ya aboard.:super::big_grin:
