I believe it was the planet Oznog (Gonzo spelled backwards).

Oznog is also the "Teppum" version of Gonzo in the "Science Fiction" episode of the Jim Henson Hour. The Teppums were the alternatively-colored, strangely dressed (and what I consider to be the alternate universe versions) versions of the characters from another planet/dimension.

I always thought Gonzo's home planet was the planet cruton. The planet became completely normal and to save his baby son from becoming normal, Gonzo' dad sent him out to another planet in a small pod. Gonzo then became known by the superheroo name of Cluck Kent.
No I didn't make this up, it is from the muppet babies.

But they were always only imagining in MB. Plus, I don't put any stock of the MB stories into the history of the Muppets at all. If we did, it would knock out Jim's vision of TMM altogether. Although, TMM was only 'sort of approximately how it happened.'

Of course, the real story of the Muppets is this...

James M. Henson wanted to break into television, so he designed puppets for a local program. Kermit was made out his mother's old coat. Allong the way, Jim met Frank Oz, and the rest. they performed for the Today show, Ed Sullivan, and soon after he created characters for Sesame Street. He then flew to England to make the Muppet Show for Globally Syndicated audences... the rest is history...
