Wow, this thread sure went on for a while after I disappeared. I guess I owe you all a bit of update.

I'm alright now in the sense that im not dead, though I'm only 85% recovered. I went in to the surgeon again about 3 weeks ago to have a minor procedure and things were rough then (I won't go into details, but it was NOT pleasant). I've been a bit better wound area pain-wise since, but its touch and go. At least I haven't had any of the paralyzing pains that I was having about 2 months back that made me walk with a cane for brief periods.

I estimate full recovery will take another year or so due to the decreased healing rates associated with late-term healing. I have, however met with two primary side effects.

First, due to the down time and healing and such, I've developed extreme chronic fatigue. Some days I can't stay awake more than a few hours before I crash and sleep. If it wasn't for drinking 4 vente Starbucks a day, I wouldn't have made it through finals alive. Then there are the nights when I have terrible insomnia caused by unrelated stresses from friends and the like. So yeah. Ha. I can hardly stay awake during the day but at the night, like right now for example (3:08 a.m. as I'm typing this), I'm more awake right now than I was when I woke up today at 7:30 a.m. AND I had an hour and a half nap this noontime, too.

Believe me: if you've never had to deal with chronic fatigue, be glad. Its made any attempts at a relatively active life almost impossible. Caffeine has been the only solution I've found, though if any of you have any suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them.

Also, I cannot exercise other than some light barbells or push ups. Everything else is an irritant and will only prolong the recovery effort. I do, however, eat healthy and thus I haven't faced much weight gain, though I did initially. I've sort of leveled off.

Anyway, a belated thanks for all the well wishing and such.
