Hey Y'all,

So I have the ostrich feathers and I remember reading that somebody glues each feather individually. Now- what glue should I use? I am addicted to the hot glue gun but I have a feeling that for this that won't suffice.

What would be a good idea?

Thanks,
Kristen

Hi Kristen,

I think that hot glue can work well if you are careful not to make a mess. There is a glue gun (Aleene's Ultimate Glue Gun ) sold at Michaels that has attachments on the end of it. One of those attachments is a long narrow tube. It makes placing glue where you need it much easier and a lot less messy.

Hope this helps.

Each puppet is different but I did glue feathers in on one of my puppets with hot glue. What I did was to map out the area I wanted the feathers to go to before I put the fur over the foam. I threaded the feather into a needle and I used my Aleen's Ultimate glue gun just as Blink was saying and after putting glue on the end of a feather I dipped it in water to cool it quick. Then I threaded the feather from the inside of the head and pulled it through till the glue caught and made the feather come off the needle on the right side. Maybe a good translator can explain better what I'm trying to say.:smirk:

Thank you so much for the information about the hot glue gun. Next time I can get out to Michaels (its a bit of a trek on public transit) I'll invest in one of the attachment glue guns. (Currently I am using the dollarama version)
