Giant marionette in Iceland explained

Hey guys,

Remember the videos of the giant marionette in Iceland on YouTube awhile back?

(I think there was an old thread, but I couldn't find it)

Well, I got a ton of emails about it via my blog, did some digging and found out how it was done (and who did it) - very little CG and a lot of good, old fashioned puppeteering. All the details are posted at http://puppetvision.blogspot.com/2006/11/giant-marionette-in-reykjavik.html

I went with CGI..the way the weight of it moved just didn't seem real, and because of the quality of the video I figured the puppet and choppers were all cg. But there you go.

I'm still curious about the youtube accounts that posted the vids as if they actually saw it happening.
Were they just the people that shot the reference footage? Or where they just fake accounts to help spread the viral marketing?

I thought that too at first, but maybe it was the speed the marionette was shot at. They could have sped up or slowed down the film.

The original YouTube accounts that posted the videos were all created by the marketing company.
