I think that if he's going to make changes, he could at least also release the "original" versions of the movies. For now I guess I should stick with those VHS that I have from the 80s.
He did with a special edition re-release of the DVD's, but they weren't anthromorphic wide screen. Basically it's full frame widescreen, and in a widescreen TV it would look like your watching a postage stamp. That REALLY honked fans off. Hopefully the originals IN a widescreen made for widescreen televisions format would be on there as well.

You know, people have mentioned if Jim made changes to Muppet movies and such, I've noticed some minor edits to a couple of Muppet movies that happened since Jim's passing:

1. In one version of GMC, when we see Piggy walking down the alley after she stood up Kermit, the music abruptly cuts, and we hear an ominious bell toll (probably Big Ben) that really makes the scene eerie; in other versions, the musical intelude continues, and we also hear a trashcan falling over and a cat screetching. Also, some versions have just an instrumental version of "Gimme That Night Life", while others have Dr. Teeth's vocals.

2. There's a minor music edit in MTM after Kermit and Piggy are pronounced Frog & Pig: in some versions, the twiddling flute is not as long.
That's more of a studio thing. Somehow, some international versions are different. in fact, there IS an international version (or so I'm told) that either has the extended version of "I hope that Something Better comes Along" or the talking over the credits version of TMM. But that's studio and distributor meddling, not directorial.

Well, like I said, I dont care if a director wants to "fix" or "improve" something. Its their movie, they can do what they want to it.
If only 98% of the fanbase shared your opinion. :sigh:
I just think that they should still have the original, untouched version available for purchase as well.
If only Ol' George shared you opinion.

I have to say, while I am getting tired of the 'BIG' re-releases, I'm still with the 2% of the internet that will not demonize George Lucas for fixing something he thinks is wrong (even if it isn't). I just take solace in the fact that he hasn't tried to remake all of Jabba's or Yoda's scenes with CGI (If he does, then I'll abandon ship).

Then he can fix his own private copy. Does he have to mess with everyone else's?

George is a perfect example of why old people shouldn't have computers. At least old fuddy duddy types. They just play games all day on the darn thing instead of doing anything productive.

You know the 2 reasons I like Clone Wars? 1... It's all CGI to begin with. No wooden human characters and bouncy Roger Rabbit looking CGI cartoons dancing around them. and 2, someone with a vision who actually likes Star Wars is doing it. Or, to rephrase that, Not George Lucas is doing it. That said, GL didn't actually direct Empire Strikes Back, and that's everyone's favorite movie in the trilogy. If Star Wars needs anything, it's new blood. New blood can be tricky, but I think if there should be any more Star Wars films, George should write them, but get a pinch hit director.
