I download tons of stuff. Mostly stuff for My Sims 2 game. Haven't got any viruses *yet* But I love downloading, I'll take the risk. I only download things that have had thosands of downloads, been tested several times, on trusted sites, etc.

I am like Jackie--I have a Mac and I love it. No viruses. Windows just plain sucks though, nuff said.

Get yourself a real good, reputable anti-virus program and set it up for automatic live updates and that will keep you mostly virus free. Do a virus scan once a week in case anything sneeks through.

This site has a very good free anti-virus program:

I don't care for Norton. It can really bog down a computer.

And of course, download Ad-aware or Spybot. Both do a great job of keeping your computer adware and spyware free. I scan my computer once a week using these as well.

Yeah, I virus scan and spyware/adware scan my computer every Friday automatically, and occasionally start a scan myself between then. Like I said, I haven't had an actual virus is quite a while, but I always end up with like 16 to 21 cases of spyware/adware each week.

Yeah I get those spyware all the time too. They are annoying and they slow my cpu down so much.

No viruses slowing me up!

I went throught a million PC's. I think this mac will be my friend for a very long time.
OMG! She suddenly emerges out of the jungle and the first thing she talks about is computer viruses? *checks temperature* Nope, she's not burning up...hmm...this must be relitively normal behaviour then, but then again, considering the relatives of us guys, that's not normal...

Hey Jackie.

If you down load Spyware or Adaware, most of them are encripted with the very thing you are trying to prevent them against!
