Hello. I've been at MC awhile now, and have a lot going on that keeps me from logging into MC daily, but I've recently noticed that we have to add friends into a list. How long has the friend's adding been going on?

TY to all that have sent me adds.

The "Friend Adding" or Befriend feature is actually new.

Before, you could just simply add other MC members to your Buddy List, and when you saw that person in the "View Who's Online" section towards the bottom of the forum main page you'd see a plus sign beneath their name signalling such addition.
The forums were upgraded and moved to a new server as of March 20, 2011, and that's when the member profile pages were modified, adding the newer Befriending link as a feature. Personally, I was confused by it at first cause I thought you needed to become friends with someone in particular to be able to contact them via either forum mailer or PM, but that's not the case.

Dunno why it's been installed as an option. Thanks for friending me back Lady D.

It appears to be a completely different, and separate list from your old buddy list as well, so... I don't get it... but hey, that's just twice as many friends fer ya, lol.

I have sent out "friend requests" to a lot of my MC buddies. Even though it does seem obviously un-necessary in certain ways never-the-less I think it is kind of a nice highlighted touch particularly when your friends are listed on your personal profile.

That's what I've been trying to figure out too. That is why I've been accepting adds, just in case.

I think it is a nice touch. I must say, when I logged onto MC after a long while I sort of didn't know what to make of the idea, online and in "real life" I am by nature a floater, in that I don't like pinning myself to a group (not implying that this new addition to my profile is making it so I do or whatever), and I sort of consider anyone here a friend generally, so I'm actually not adding anyone to my friends list, only in the case in which I accept a request.

I haven't really payed that much attention to the buddies/friends list. I never had a use for it really. I figured if my friends or people who wish to talk to me can do so via a mail or PM. I dont really like listing my friends for the whole world to notice. Who I talk to is really no one's busniess except my own. Unless I choose to make it public. sorry if that sounded rude it wasnt meant to be. I mean if you want to add me go a head I'll add you but don't expect too much. I still like old fashioned emails. I just think theyare more personial then bunching everyone up in a groupe.

I'm actually very much the same as Rose, I've never actually payed attention to having a friends list in the first place.
