Fraggle Rock Saturday Morning Cartoon ?

I love fraggle rock , i was first introdurced to them thugh a series of books from the 1980s don't know the year on those .

I also loved the saterday morning cartoon i watched every staterday morning until it ended .

Why did it not last for a long time?

I would love to see a comeplete DVD series of that cartoon i miss it .

i only got to see one or 2 eposides of that as a kid and i am now geting to see all of them on the dvd sets i am loving those very much and watch them often .

Who loved the animated series as much as i did ?

i was shocked that no one had talked about it sooner .

Well, I was (and am) a huge huge fan of the live action Fraggle Rock and I never got to see it very much originally because we didn't have HBO. I remember the animated version used to come on after Mother Goose on the Disney Channel and even though I knew what to expect I would always get excited and wish for them to play the live version, lol. So for me the animated was OK... I mean the stories were fine, it was just odd to hear different voices and I liked the other version so much that I couldn't get that into it. I like it better now.

i myself am a bigger fan of the live action. However, i loved the cartoon series too. I watched both as a child during their original time slots and repeats. So, having DVDs of both are very special to me

Here's the problem... for those of us who didn't grow up privillaged to have HBO (a premium cable channel) this was basically all we had. I'm not saying I didn't like it. In fact, if I didn't, I wouldn't have liked them to begin with. I may or may not have seen a real episode or two when I was younger, but that's about it. Only the cartoon and various clips in specials like Muppet Family Christmas are what I could see. it took me until the FIRST DVD's to come out for me to actually see them. I had to wait until I was 22 to see Fraggle Rock, mate!

I feel the cartoon is good, but had they really should have A) Stuck to the series bible (Doc and Sprocket were not supposed to hand around...) or B) have the bits with Doc and Sprocket live action. originally, they were going to use to performers's original voices, but there was some schedualling or contract thing that got in the way...

I will say, I want to induct Rob Paulsen as an Honorary Muppeteer for his work as Boober....

The animated FR was cute, I saw a lot of it as a child. Not as good as Muppet Babies. Muppet Babies was a different interpretation on the Classic Muppets, plus it had all the pop culture references and live action footage. Very ambitious and creative. The Fraggle Rock cartoon was more of a copy of the original show, but not quite as sharp.

On the plus side, the storylines were very "Fragglish", they were often weird and trippy, which is great lol. And the characters were dead on, voice and personality. But it was a bit more childish, you would out grow it quickly.

And yes, Rob Paulsen is awesome! I still hear his voice everywhere.

Its like what Jim Henson said "cartoon characters dont look right in 3d". Ok so its approxamitly what he said. The same thing is true for the Muppets. They dont work as a cartoon. Its an ambitious effert though.

Too true... I have trouble drawing some of the Muppets to look Muppetish... especially my namesake. But I can draw the Chef amazingly....

I think there's problems with the eyes...

I have found that drawing Muppet eyes can be quite the challange. So I think that's probably why they don't look as good animated than they do when they are Muppets.

Well, speaking as someone who had the good privilege of growing up with Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Muppet Babies, Fraggle Rock and Fraggle Rock (the cartoon)- I can say that I loved all of them equally!
I still do! I can't say that I saw that much of a difference in Fraggle Rock's live and animated incarnations. Obviously some different voices- but they did a pretty decent job. And some cartoon storylines even picked up from live action storylines. And there were some pretty memorable episodes of the cartoon that I still remember- and in watching some of the episodes released on DVD a few years back- I can recall watching some of these episodes as a child!
The cartoon series went for 13 episodes, so it's a nice supplement to the live action series. After watching all 96 great episodes, here's a little something extra to tide you over until say, that Fraggle Rock movie gets released!
I definitely think the cartoon deserves its own complete series DVD release to go alongside the live action series.
