Fraggles have fur on their bodies, do too.

I look at it like this, Gonzo is a Frackle, but being unsure what his race of Frackles really are, he assumed the "whatever" title, but suddenly we discover that (Muppet)Frackles are a breed of aliens from a distant planet, many of which were left behind, but only one of Gonzo's type which caused him all the self-acceptance problems, unlike the other kinds of Frackles of which there seem to be at least 2.
