I noticed that some of you have a photo of something next to your name,

Those are called avatars. Go to the User CP, and clck on "edit avatar." Then you can browse through your computer, and when you find an image, press "save changes".

I suggest looking at the forum above and there are instructions on exactly what to do, and you can also request help for getting an avatar as well.
