See, I have always thought this to be a stupid holiday. Even though this year I do technically have a Valentine, I really don't think its necissary to go out and buy her stuff that A) I know she's not going to eat all of, and B) stems from a fake holiday!! But anyway, our culture demands this holiday, so, I was just curious as to what we all got our sweethearts this year.

For mine, I got a little tin of those heart-shaped sweet things. It was mainly for the tin, which has Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh on it. Something tells me she's going to just dump the sweets out and display the tin.

Oh well, at any rate, what might you be getting your special member of the opposite sex? (or same sex, if the case may be)

I like Valentines Day. Sure, it's very commercial, and people say you don't need one day to let your partner know that they're special. But I like it. I think it's just a fun day and a nice opportunity to spoil your loved one.

My girlfriend bought me some sweet boxers with Homer and Marge on them, surrounded by love hearts.

I bought her a lamp that she wanted for her new place that she's moving into this weekend. And of course, sent flowers to her office today.

And we're going out to dinner tonight at one of our favourite Italian places.

Long live Valentines Day!

Really!

You are!

In honor of that, and of today, and of a certain FR show, "We Love You, Joggy"!

Um, well I share that every day as far as showing people I love that I care about them.(like my mom and bird)
Lets not kid ourselves, we know what Valentines is to most folks and is marketed as.

What I do find appealing is that it will most likely be a rainy friday...which ever since I was little I always found great.

You know, its a bit of an irony...I thought for sure by 2003, a year that in itself sounds like the future...I would have someone to share Valentines with. But as weve seen, life is not fair.

So no, I dont feel like its a day to celebrate caring for people you love IMHO. That to me is every day...no, I feel like its a false holiday that perpetuates and magnifys the haves and the have nots.

Oddly enough, for the record if I *did* have a special girl...I think I would draw whomever a real nice card and make whomever something, and then take said whomever out somewhere really fun. Of course maybe that is possible, who knows...maybe there is an alternate reality where Im happy, prosperous, and things are triumphant and fair. (the same alternate universe where all of us are doing great, and JHC is on top of things, and there is no war)
