The Special where John Denver goes camping with the Muppets is out on video and DVD now, Is there anyone who accepts the fact that the Flying scene was taken out due to the fact that John died in a plane crash :sympathy: . Just wanted to let you guys know!!

At first, I was pretty upset the scene was cut out. After watching the DVD, I went back and saw the flying scene again on tape. John is doing all these stunts with Rowlf in the plane. After seeing the clip again, I understand why it was cut. I don't like it, but I understand especially if his family requested this scene be removed before the DVD was released.

I had never seen this before and only found out about that scene from what people have posted here. I can understand it, but it seems a shame because flying was something John Denver absolutely loved. It seems to me that he would have wanted the scene to remain.

I am a bit disapointed that that scene was cut. The reason for this is that I've never seen this special before. But I can understand why the family wanted this scene to be cut from the special. I just hope that someone would post a clip of this. So people that haven't seen it would get a chance to see it.

Thats great Phillip.
If we can't get a video clip of the scene, then a transcript is the next best thing.

Awesome! I can definitely get a sense of it from the transcipt. I certainly can identify with Rowlf on this one!! And I gotta love John's "far out"! :stick_out_tongue:

Reading the transcript, it's absolutely no surprise it was cut out.

I wonder if it was really edited because of John's family's requests....

was that and the Jaws thing the only edits? I can remember hearing about one more. I've never seen the original....

I can see why they cut out the plane scene, but I'm still a bit disappointed....But, then, it's such a GREAT Rowlf scene....Oh, well.

I was wondering about that scene. The first time I saw RMH was when I bought it about a week ago. My sister and I were watching it and they have the scene where Rowlf hiccups ("No, no, in no way was that a hiccup") and then they just go back to singing. It felt like there was more to it (and now I know there was).

It's a little funny because just before we popped the tape in I said to my sister "You know, they could have edited this tape the way they edited Muppet Family Christmas, grrr, and we'll never know."

Although in this case I do understand why they would edited it (the cuts made to MFC however ........)
