Flanderized Muppets?

So if Mahna Mahna isn't actually "flanderized" with saying his own name and doing performances and parodies of his song, then would the string quartet and Sax and Violence sketches count more as "early installment weirdness"/"characterization marches on"?

It's more like "Jim needed a wild-looking character to put against the square ones and Mahna Mahna fit the bill."

I think that this happened to kermit for sure, and miss piggy.
