Hi everyone.
Just a few questions about the original three muppet movies:
when were muppet caper, muppet movie and muppets take manhatten made?
was lips first introduced in muppet caper?
and which movies were filmed while the show was still on air apart from the muppet movie?
please help
thanks

Ok. Here's what I know. And someone please correct me if I am wrong.

  • Muppet Caper- made late 70sish early 80sish
  • Muppets take Manhattan- 1984
  • I believe Lips was playing with the band during the Muppet Movie (scene inside the chapel.) I am not sure on that one.
  • Muppet Caper Was either during the show or very shortly thereafter.

To the best of my knowledge:

Muppet Movie 1979
Muppet Caper 1981
Muppets Take Manhatten 1984

As far as Lips i'm not sure. I don't remember him being in the muppet movie. I only remember him from the muppet caper. If these dates are correct The muppet movie would have been the only one when the muppet show was still on. Although the muppet caper could have possibly been at the end of the muppet show.

Now I'll have to watch the muppet movie again to see if Lips is in it.

I think "GMC" was after the show ended, I think after the large success of "TMM" they decided to just concentrate on movies.

lips didnt play in the band in muppet movie.
Its just that I was reading an article about the lips figure, and it said he was introduced in the muppet caper.
But he was on the muppet show in the pit and sometimes with the band.
anyone know anything?

Lips appeared in the orchestra pit on the show in the later seasons. I know the Muppet Movie definately came out during the show, because on the episode with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Kermit is interviewing Roy about how many movies he's done. Roy lists some ridiculously high number, and Kermit looks down looking a little defeated and mutters: "I've only done one." which I'm pretty sure was in reference to the Muppet Movie. I always thought the GMC started filming the last season of TMS, but didn't hit theatres until after the end.

The Muppet Movie came out during the summer of 1979,which was in between season three and season four of The Muppet Show. The Great Muppet Caper came out during the summer of 1981,just after The Muppet Show drew to a close with season five. Then a prime time TV special The Fantastic Miss Piggy Show aired during the fall of 1982.The Muppets Take Manhatten came out in 1984.  :embarrassed:
