It's not my custom to post about non-Muppet series here at MC...but I started watching Firefly today (there's a marathon of episodes on Sci-Fi) and I am pretty much in love with it...Has anyone else seen it? Does anyone else thing that it was trying to be Farscape and that Star Trek Enterprise was just trying to be Firefly?

I can hardly believe there are so few episodes of Firefly and that it got cancelled...It's astonishingly good, with amazing characters and a gritty real-world futuristic feel. I guess it will always be a mystery why some series continue and some series collapse...

Still, Firefly got a movie -- Serenity...Which I am desperate to watch and will certainly be purchasing tomorrow!

I have both of these at home and I have been meaning to watch both of them. But yeah, it's messed up. You know the FOX Network put this on on the time slot of doom witch was Friday night and eight o'clock. I almost believe that they wanted it to go.

Firefly is a Joss Whedon program. He's the creator of Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog and now Dollhouse.

Firefly was a great show that's more space western than a Star Trek or Farscape. Fox really ruined the program by shifting it around on it's schedule, airing episodes out of order and skipping a few ones too. That's why his current deal for Dollhouse is that all 12 episodes must regularly air in order without several weeks between them. No matter if that program sinks or swims from here on out he claims that he's going to publish his shows himself on the web.

Back to Firefly and Serenity. My boss at the toy store is a huge fan. We have a few items, but they don't make that much. I get numerous daily customer compliments about our support for the program in the shop.

Of course, in some ways, maybe there is some reverse psychology kicking in that means because this show was cancelled, it's become so popular. You know when you start it that it is a specific length, with specific story-arcs, and that you are going to end the series while it was still doing good...rather than knowing that it's so long that you'll never catch up with it if you've become a fan late. (*cough* Lost *cough*)

Maybe it wouldn't have worked if it was longer...if it hadn't been cancelled.

Either way, it's so living...such a world that you can step into and wish to live in...I love it, though I'm worried that the movie won't do the series justice.

The movie is good. It's a different sort of animal, but you'll enjoy it.

BTW, we sold a Fruity Oaty Lunchbox in the store the other day. Not sure if you're at that part yet. I'd almost forgotten about that bit and what that product really is.

I think I caught the last 7 episodes (which I have just watched back to back on sci-fi tv...aheh...) Amazing, but bizarre finale episode. I guess I have to see the movie to finish it off, and I'm planning to buy the series to watch the beginning episodes. (Luckily I picked it up on a flashback type episode which introduced all the characters).
