I just got some news from Aardman, The company behind Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run aswell as so much more.

Fire has destroyed historical sets, props and storyboards from Original Aardman animations films including items from wallace and gromit and chicken run. Below is the news I received.:sympathy:

On the day that Aardman celebrate a chart-topping opening weekend in the US with Wallace & Gromit 'The Curse of the Were-rabbit', news of a fire at our storage unit in Bristol has been devastating.

The facility used to store sets, awards, and historical artefacts, is not a part of the Aardman studio, and we are glad to report that no Aardman staff have been affected. However, we have lost a number of irreplaceable storyboards, awards, props and pieces of film memorabilia from our 30 year history.

None of the material from the new Wallace & Gromit film 'The Curse of the Wererabbit' was in storage at the time, but we have lost many original sets from Chicken Run, Creature Comforts, and the three Wallace & Gromit short films, that were used for reference and toured around the world for exhibition.

This will not in any way affect existing or future Aardman productions as 100% of sets and props are purpose built for each production.

Poor Wallace and Gromit. Does this mean they're homeless now? What will Wallace do without his cheese?

luckily it was only a storage unit so as it says above it wont affect any future projects. Luckily it wasnt actually in the studios and noone was hurt.

That's good, then. But how ironic that their movie just opened, and they ended up losing everything from their old movies.

Several Wallace and Grommits are made anew for each project. The ones on tour are (I believe) from the new movie; the fire destroyed Aardman's archives which reportedly didn't include the puppets, props and sets from the new movie.

It's a terrible shame, although as Nick Park told CNN in light of what's happened in India and Pakistan puts things in perspective. No one at Aardman got hurt and their current productions won't even be interrupted.

Everything Aardman/Wallace&Gromit Destroyed

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/4326286.stm

Wow, very very sad news for any fan of Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, Creature Comforts, etc. The entire wherehosue that houses the history, sets and everything imaginable from the claymation world of Aardman studios has been completely destroyed in a matter of hours. As a fan of there work for the last decade, I can't even begin to imagine the loss of the countless sweat, tears , love and man hours put into all those maticulous sets. Luckily original prints of the movies and shorts were not being housed there but everything else appears to be destroyed by fire.
