Finally, I heard an early Vet's Hospital sketch

I finally heard an early "Vetrenarian's Hospital" sketch on Muppet Central Radio with Richard as Miss Piggy and Erin as Janice. Just thought I'd make a few comments here. It's strange how Piggy used to sound like Janice sounds now, only without the valley girl accent. I'm guessing Erin used her own voice for Janice, it sounded like a generic woman's voice. I sort of wonder if that was the voice Brian was trying to imitate in the Christmas movie. And of course, there's another voice that was different. The announcer was voiced by John Lovelady. I've noticed it was much lower than Jerry's and what he said was different: "former orthopedic surgeon gone to the dogs" rather than "quack gone to the dogs." About George, I haven't seen him enough to comment on he sounded, though I have read that he had quite a few different puppateers. To be honest, and nothing against the puppateers or anything they do a great job and all, but it was a bit freaky hearing all those different voices. If I hadn't known, I'd think "who the heck was Rowlf talking to?" Overall, I prefer the characters the way we know them today. (I'm listening to the fully-evolved Miss Piggy now, on that "Kokomo" song) Anyway, I just thought I'd comment on that. Now, I can stop whining about waiting for that Rita Moreno episode. Lol.

Hmmmm

Nobody responded to this yet. I guess everyone thinks I'm a fool for just finding this stuff out now. Lol.

That's okay. Just something I'm curious about. You mean, you haven't seen Miss Piggy in anything besides the first season of TMS? With Janice, it's understandable, because she hasn't been around much since Richard's death, but Piggy is everywhere these days. I understand and all. I'm just wondering.

What I sais wasn't completely true. I first saw the TMCC, then the three Muppet Movies, and then TMS, starting with the first season of course. I saw TMS every week, so I got used to the old Piggy and Janice very soon.

Daffyfan2003, I enjoyed your analysis. Fran Brill originally performed Janice in 1974-75 for the Sex and Violence pilot and the Muppet Meeting Films. Then Eren picked her up for season one, Richard for season 2, then Brian brought her back in last year's Christmas movie.

Glad you are enjoying Muppet Central Radio. :sing:

Thanks for responding.

Yeah, I knew about that. She also performed Miss Piggy at that point. Now, I guess that's my new mission. Trying to listen for something with Fran as those characters.
