Am I the only one who thinks up until now, Tom and Jerry have had a terrible time on television? I think the new Tom and Jerry Tales holds up to the classic cartoons a lot better than all of them. Even Hanna Barbera did a lousy job with the 1970's Tom and Jerry show, making them play third to Grape Ape and a copy of their own Muttley. Tom and Jerry Kids was okay, but nothing really does it like the 1940's theatrical realesed shorts.

And besides, Filmation's only good show was Fat Albert, mainly because it worked mainly with dialogue and not animation.

uuhhhh.... you're not familiar with Filmation, are you? I give them credit for being the only US based animation studio at the time, but they really had to go on rediculous budgets and everything was just really badly done... they did have a lot of rising talent, if you could believe it, working for them. paul Dini got his start wrtiting for Fat Albert (Mainly the Brown Hornet segments), and John K. worked there as well...and regreted it!

I agree with you Drtooth. But now I don't know where they stand. But Look at the Flintstones with there Bedrock superstar. I'm a big Hanna-Barbera fan (Who worships the two guys) and William Hanna and Joseph Barbera would not be happy if they saw "The Bedrock Superstar". They would be so upset right now. I don't know what they would say.

Filmation did He-Man and She-Ra if I'm not mistaken. Both of those shows had big viewing figures so not everything they have produced has been bad. Whoever owns the rights to the Tom & Jerry cartoons must have given Filmation permission to do these new cartoons so surely the blame should be theirs. Especially if it is such common knowledge of how bad they are.

I'm a big H&B man too... I mean, it depends on what side of the glass you look on, but I feel the 70's was definately not their decade. They did have a large output of material, but most of it was self-copying. I think Hong Kong Phooey was their best work of that decade, even though half their output of that decade was based on fads at the time (Kung fu movies, here). They had a tough time too in the 80's, but some of that stuff was pretty creative (Fantastic Max, Don Coyote to name a few), and they did pretty good new stuff with classic characters like Yogi Bear. But I digress...

FIlmation is reguarded as one of the worst animation studios of all time, especially by former employees. I will say, I do wanna see their version of Mighty Mouse again. I did enjoy it when I was younger, and from memory it was pretty much the best of their adaptions of old cartoon shows...

Plus if you look at the animation on terrytoons' 1966 show, Mighty Heroes, thy do have the same style of reusing the same animation over and over throughout the series.

I love Fantastic Max, and I thought Don Coyote was so hilarious.
