I'm unsure whether there is a thread about this already, but I wanted to know if anyone favours a specific period or era of SSt, such as perhaps the one they grew up with.

Personally I've been having a good ponder about this, as early 70s and 90s used to be my favourites. But after watching the 40 Years of Sunny Days DVD in it's entirety I found that I have a real emotional attatchment (as in when I saw these sketches after not seeing them in a long time I was like, "wow, I used to love this!") to 1980s and early 90s SSt, and I have fond memories of the sketches. All in all, I believe that I'm a fan of the late 70s stuff up until the 90s (but I don't totally dismiss the current SSt, it's just that I'm barely ever around to watch it when it's on the telly).

How about you guys?

For me, it's mainly the tailend of the classic/old-school era, because that's what I grew up with as a little kid... from the mid-to-late 80s to the early 90s just before the Around the Corner era; granted, I was born in 1989, but I saw a lot of the mid and late 80s era via the Random House VHSs that were available at the time like "Bedtime Stories and Songs", "The Best of Ernie and Bert", "Big Bird's Story Time", "Singalong", one that features Big Bird demonstrating a bus stop sign, etc.

Then again, the 2000s have had some nice seasons as well... Seasons 31, 32, 33, 34, 36, and 38 for example (can't really give an opinion on 39 and 40 because I've missed a considerable number of episodes from both).

For me, looking at all my favorite Sesame Street clips makes me want to go back in time to the 70s and 80s. But I grew up in the 90s and the millenium years. But I would have to say that my favorite would be the 80s and 90s era of Sesame Street.

The early years, 1969-1974; back when the show was fresh and new, and had a raw, gritty look and feel to it, from the street set to the Muppets' physical appearances.

And because Gordon had an afro!
