Mmmmmm.... fast food. I could be happy surviving entirely on fast food.
I reccomend you go and rent the movie Supersize Me. It's a documentary film about a guy who, as an experiment, lives on nothing but McDonald's for a whole month. You get to see his health rapidly deteriorating through the course of the film.

I will definitely check out Fast Food Nation. I'm always up for literature that can turn my stomach (Sinclair's The Jungle, anyone?). As for the documentary, someone on the radio pointed out that the guy did indeed eat fast food for a month but also did no form of exercise during that stretch. I'm certainly not condoning fast food as a regular diet but it seems unfair to say that a restaurant can do such things to you if you're not even willing to do something for yourself. That's why I don't buy into those fat people who try to sue fast food restaurants claiming it's the restaurant's fault that they are obese. If you can get off your fat behind to get to McDonald's you can get off your fat behind to walk on a treadmill, lift some light dumbbells or do some sidebends.

I learned about two years ago that I am not invincible to the effects of food. I had a job that consisted mostly of sitting around (security, go figure). I got really bored a lot so I passed the time by eating. Before that time, I had a great metabolism and I stayed extra skinny all my life. However, over a year of sitting and munching caused me to develop quite a belly. I resolved to take action one night as I was sitting around with my shirt off and looked down at myself. I realized how bad I'd gotten so I took to the situps and haven't stopped. I'm now more fit then I've ever been and proud that I could reverse what had happened. I know this is a cliche, but if I can do it, others can too. It's not even the looks that are important, it's what's inside. Exercise is good for the heart and the heart keeps us alive.

I've read "Fast Food Nation." It's a good book. Unfortunately, I occasionally still eat at a fast food place. Reason? It's cheap.

Does anyone have Bixby's where they live? It's a bagel place, but they also have soup, salads, pasta, etc. It's really good and much more healthy (but not quite as cheap.)

It really depends with what mood I'm in, but I agree with most of the ones on Dee's list.

I heard if you eat a Quarter Pounder from McDonalds that it would take you 9.5 miles to burn if off. Ouch.....

I try not to eat fast food anymore. It really is bad for you.

Seems to me that the best fast food restaurant is probably Chick-Fil-A. I've only had the experience of eating their food once or twice when I was in Florida a while back, but I've yet to get a chicken sandwich that can surpass the one from down there.

McDonald's sucks. Wendy's is OK, and I frequent my local Quiznos.

Living in the great city of Philadelphia, there are a ton of three types of fast food places all around: Pizza, Chinese Food, and Philly Cheese Steaks! I love a Philly cheese steak with raw onions and extra cheese and a side order of cheese french fries or onion rings.
As for the fast food chains, I have always loved McDonald's. Big Macs, Quarter Pounders w/ cheese, Filet o' Fish, it all tastes great! I also like Wendy's for french fries and for their fresh cooked to order food. Don't care for the taste of most Burger King food. KFC has great chicken and biscuits. But my favorite of them all is Hardees. Their burgers are so delicious. And I love the sourdough bread they come on. Problem is, the nearest Hardees to Philadelphia is about 2 hours away. (Perhaps that's why I love their food so much on the occasions I have it!) Interestingly, though, I recently heard a radio host say how tasty he thought their burgers were and since they are not in the local area he wanted to call a Hardees and have them air mail a burger to him!
Well now I did it to myself. All this talk makes me desire some fast food but my mouth still hasn't recovered enough from the wisdom teeth extractions!
