at last chapter 6

The following morning Father Marty and Fozzie had breakfast together then did their own individual things for the rest of the morning until it was time for lunch. The first thing Father Marty made sure he did was to prepare his follow-up lesson for that afternoon.
After helping Fozzie wash up the dishes after lunch was over they took a little rest in their rooms until 2 o'clock. Then they sat down in the living room together again.
Father Marty prayed: "Dear God. I give you thanks for granting us both the best of health as I am staying with good old Fozzie. And I ask once again that you guide the words of my mouth as I share your message with him. Help him to understand the Good News you have for him and may he find true joy in you. In the sweet name of Jesus. Amen."

It was time to share the crux of the message with Fozzie.

chapter 7

"You know Fozzie, Jeremiah prophesied something else besides God's judgement to come upon Israel for their unfaithfulness. Would you like to hear what that was?" Father Marty asked.
"Please tell me Father. I'm ready to listen."
Fozzie put his chin inside his paws and stared at Father Marty's face.
"One example of this great prophecy is in Chapter 23 verse 5. Listen."
Father Marty turned to the verse and read. "The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land."
"What does that mean Father?"
"Well Fozzie. David had been the very first God-honouring king appointed over Israel. He was appointed by God in place of the original king, Saul who was a wicked man at heart and had rejected God's authority over him and the people he ruled over. David was such a godly man however that God promised to make one of his descendants king after him, who would rule with perfect justice. Even though David's royal lineage essentially came to an end with the exile to Babylon, God did keep His promise and one day brought this man from among the descendants of David's family line. He is the man Jesus Christ who is spoken of in the New Testament. He was the One whose coming Jeremiah prophesied. He came to give us hope and joy despite whatever things upset us in our lives. God made Him to be the loving King of us all."
Father Marty went on to share the Good News of the Gospel with Fozzie and gave him some homework notes to work upon by himself that night. Fozzie said he'd give it a go and Father Marty promised to discuss his answers with him the following day. Fozzie was in the Hands of God. Father Marty prayed earnestly for him in his mind and heart.

chapter 8

The following afternoon Fozzie was all excited as he sat down with Father Marty.
"Father. I realize now that I have no reason to feel put down by hecklers. The Bible notes I looked at in my homework showed me that God cares about me, no matter what others think."
"That's wonderful Fozzie. Do you fully understand why Jesus came and in what way He loves you?"
Fozzie blushed a bit. "Yeah well. It's hard to own up to, but I realize now that sometimes I've been rather mean to others all for the sake of my love for comedy gags."
"Do you care to talk about any example?"
"There was that time during the night when Candice Bergen guest-starred on our old Muppet Show. I was playing a running gag joke upon Kermit."
Father Marty smiled. "Oh yes. I remember that well from my Season one Muppet Show DVDs Fozzie. Letter for you. The letter R. Note for you. All those other frogs appearing and singing that single note. They were rather clever, you know. But you're feeling bad about the last one I expect, aren't you?"
Fozzie bowed his head rather shamefully. "Yeah you're right. Flower for you. And so I tipped that bag of flour all over Kermit's head. That was going way beyond a joke. It was mean. And then Miss Piggy punched me when she saw it."
"True Fozzie. You could have just showed Kermit the bag of flour and that would have been a very funny and rather harmless little gag. But Kermit must have felt very infuriated at what you did. So was Piggy. And while it doesn't necessarily make her thumping you the right thing to have done, you did pay the penalty for your actions. But you realize you offended God as well as your fellow Muppets every time you played a mean joke upon them now, don't you?"
Fozzie nodded. "I so deeply regret every rash thing I've said or done that's hurt anybody. I thought I was hurt by others badly, but I never thought to consider the way I may have made others feel before."

chapter 9

Father Marty spoke comfortingly. "None of us are perfect Fozzie. We all fail to reach the mark in God's sight. Even me. It's only as we humbly acknowledge our faults that we can come to God for forgiveness through Jesus Christ. He was the only perfect person who ever lived and never did anything wrong. He was willing to die for you Fozzie and rise again from the dead to redeem you. Will you wholeheartedly accept Him?"
"I want to so badly Father. More than anything else I know I need Him to give me the peace I've been seeking for."
Father Marty and Fozzie prayed together and the furry fuzzy funny man, Mr.Fozzie Bear gave his life over in service to the Lord Jesus Christ. Adter that things were never the same for him.

An epilogue to come soon.

epilogue

It was only a month afterwards that the Lord blessed Fozzie with a comedian's job at a cabaret nightclub only a few blocks away from Sesame Street. He sent Father Marty an invitation to come and see his first big show on a Thursday night. Father Marty was pleased to go there and sat among the audience at their tables dressed in his very best sipping a bottle of lemonade.
"Hiya.Hiya.Hiya. Did you hear what God said to the chief baker up in Heaven? Don't forget to check on the Angel Food Cakes or else they will burn and turn into Devil Food Cakes. Wocka Wocka."
Suddenly a crabby voice called out "Your jokes are starting to get worse and worse."
Another similar voice added "Yeah. You think you're such a high and mighty pious sort now do you."
Fozzie turned the other cheek however and carried on telling his religious jokes instead of getting upset and arguing with them. Father Marty was so happy.
"Man. He sure is different somehow."
"I never thought he'd ever take our heckling so calmly and cooly."
Father Marty turned around and briefly smiled at Statler and Waldorf at their own table behind him. He turned back to watch Fozzie some more. He knew Fozzie had forgiven the old geezers and was praying for them. He felt very confident he would have his day with them in his Muppet Ministry when the time was just right.
