On the 1978 album, "Fair Is Fair", Farley sang "The No Song" with Oscar (Not the same "No Song" that Maria and Gina sang on the show). Anyone remember this one?

The No Song that Maria and Gina sang was called The Word Is No. I have also read track listings for the album Hot Hot Hot Dance Songs, which listed a song called The No-No-No, but I can't remember whether oscar sang that with Farley or Elmo. There was also a song about the word No that was sung by Grungetta. That segment began with oscar and Grungetta having some kidn of argument, leading her to sing about her favorite word, No, and at the end, oscar said that No is also his favortie word, and they started to say No together.

This one started with Oscar telling Farley that he has to practice saying "No" to his nephew because he always gives him whatever he wants. Oscar says that he doesn't want him to get spoiled and not grow up to be a grouch. Farley says, "I think I understand..." Oscar then asks Farley to help him practice saying "No", so they begin "The No Song" where Farley musically asks Oscar for things and Oscar says no.


I don't remember all the lyrics, but it goes something like:

Farley: Can I visit a friend?

Oscar: No!

Farley: I promise not to fight.

Oscar: No!

Farley: I won't bother his mother; May I stay overnight?

Oscar: No!


Farley: Whatever I ask you, the answer's the same; I have just one more question. Is no your real name?

Oscar: No! This is fun.



Yet, despite Oscar's great ability to tell Farley "no", when his nephew comes along and asks to do something grouchy, Oscar winds up saying "yes."
