I've never noticed that bacon obsession before.

It seems an obsession with chihuahuas keeps coming and going. There was the popularity of the Taco Bell Dog, then he stopped appearing in commercials and people cared less about them, and then that Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie came out and Chihuahuas became the it thing again.

One obsession that I don't understand (and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere) is the fake-tan look. I can understand trying to get a little natural tan, but so many people get extreme fake tans that can't even pass as realistic. To me it just looks unnatural.

The funny thing is in my country, the fad is having "snow white" skin.

There's sad consequences with fads like that though...

There was even a rather sad (both in a "boo-hoo" and a "oh gee" way) story on it not too long ago, about how these useless, trashy celebrities, carry these little "handbag dogs" with them everywhere that there was suddenly a booming crazy for people wanting to own "handbag dogs" to carry around as well... then shortly afterwards, there was an increase in those exact same dogs later being abandoned at shelters and stuff because people didn't want them anymore.

Oh yeah I forgot about the fads of female celebrities having "handbag dogs" like chichuahuas. I wonder if that's why the main character in the Legally Blonde movies had one.

Of course my family has three chihuahuas, the first of which we got sometime after the Taco Bell dogs commercials premiered (I'd say a year afterwards).

Speaking of dogs..."designer" dogs seem to be in. That is really what they are called. The worst part is that they are crossbreeds with select dogs that I guess have desired traits to go together. And people spend loads of money for these things when you have "mutts" doomed to be in pounds because they are not purebred or of the desired crossbreed. I don't understand it

You know what i don't like? Fads that don't even last long enough to be a fad. I'd call them fad-lets, if anything. In the matter of what children like, something that pops up during the end of the school year, and becomes passe by the time it's back in session. Like those rubber bands shaped like something. That didn't last too long.

But then again, some fads are bred as SUPER fads that never die. Like Reality TV, especially Survivor and American Idol. Really... let...them...just...die.

Especially American Idol. I was done after Simon left. The true purpose of American Idol is long gone (even before Simon left, I think too). It no longer just has to be here.
