Oh hey, i don't mind at all! In fact, thank you very much!

The bags are a great idea! My dear, sweet existing mess. How often you and I have snuggled under a warm glue gun.

And yes, I adore the advice given & relationships built here.

I just bought some plastic safety puppet eyes (the big white domes from www.puppetminister.com--- thank you Ben!), so I'm excited to start using those. I have the whole day off & plan on making at least two puppets with them tomorrow (goals, right?)

I wish I could find it inside of me to spend every waking moment making puppets. Sometimes it's just as rewarding to think about making them. Especially when that thinking occurs late at night when sewing machines are dangerous.

Anyway, late night rambling aside, thanks for the advice guys. I'll post a new photo of Steve when he's all gussied up.

Ok so everything i tried didn't work. The glue was a mess, the eyes still wouldn't stick, no matter how much I roughed that one on the right up. I ripped them out, had to cover them up with the bags, but didnt have the fabric I wanted and, well, I guess the moral is that I'm just too impatient and now I'm really disappointed with how he turned out...

I should have used purple felt. I just now thought of that.

while it is frusterating, I would suggest moving on from him for the moment. Then maybe a puppet or so down the road, come back to him and see what you can do to fix the things about him you don't like. Maybe you can use big plastic eyes to cover any of the places where the glue shows...just don't ultimately settle on a puppet you dont like!

We learn from our mistakes. I got the most mileage out of puppets I never even managed to finish...

He definitely was a learning experience. I think you're right, to go back to him now would only frustrate me more. Ah yes, the box of misfit puppet bits. I've got one of those for sure.

I did try the larger dome eyes as well as my favorite ping pong balls. I wasn't pleased with any of them. I think he's stuck where he is, which, for me is okay. I've made worse

I just used the mistakes around the Eye area as part of a facial expression (as in someone got into a accident).

Could it be that I'm just flat out using the wrong glue?

Is there something out there better than hot glue? Something that won't give me cancer?
