Exercising/Maintaining your Arms

Anyone know of any good exercises/stretches that can help make my arm hurt less when keeping it up in the air with puppet for extended periods of time?

i've heard of holding canned food in your arm for as long as you can... i suggest doing that in reps.

Really it is much more an issue of conditioning than strength, and there are no short-cuts. The best thing you can di is just puppeteer for as long as you are able, make note of how long you lasted and aim for longer the next time.

I actually went for a couple of years without puppeteering and then was called to do a show that called for about 45 minutes of continuous puppeteering. I was surprised that I was able to do it, but a big part of it was that my arms "knew" what to expect.

Also, sore arms are an expected part of the craft! (to a degree...)

Visiting the gym and doing regular stretching can't really hurt neither ;-)

i know the can thing but i was also told use a gallon of milk, although that can get messy if you arnt used to it and drop it

The important thing to remember in this case of course is to not cry if in fact you do drop the milk....
