I'm not sure if this was posted before, but this was the typical E&B vehicle! Ernie and Bert are in bed and Ernie wakes up Bert to tell him he can't sleep. Bert advises him to count sheep. After counting a few sheep, Ernie realizes how dull it is and how much more fun it would be to count something more exciting. He decides to count fire engines and in doing so, wakes up Bert. (a cartoon image of a noisy fire engine zips across the top of the screen). Bert tells Ernie he will wake up the whole neighborhood by counting fire engines. Ernie then asks Bert if he can count balloons claiming "they just sit there"! Bert goes back to sleep and the outline of a balloon appears on the screen that Ernie appears to blowing bigger and bigger until it finally makes a huge explosion from popping causing Bert to wake up with a frightened scream and looks at Ernie who appropriately says,"ummmm, one?? I think Bert then faints!

The Best Is The Sheep Carry Bert Outside
Actually, the sheep carried Bert outside at the end of Dance Myself To Sleep, not this sketch.

Yeah, whenever Ernie couldn't sleep, Bert got the worst of it, but the Count turned the tables one time when he slept over.

I remember both those sketches and songs. The one where The Count slept over always freaked me out a little. I remember The Count counting sheep and all, but he kept counting and kept Ernie up all night. The next morning they show Ernie with his haggard eyes all bugging out because he couldn't sleep all night- but as a kid it just looked weird and freaky.
But now that I look back at it, it'd be cool to see that sketch in its entirety again.
:stick_out_tongue: :frown:
