Hi! Remember when Ernie lost self-control to Herbert Birdsfoot on the skit where Ernie tried to borrow a vaccum from him? Well, here's my script of the polite things Ernie should do in this skit!
Ernie Borrows A Vacuum Part Two
A skit starring Ernie (Steve Whitmire or John Tartagila, I'm not sure) and Herbert Birdsfoot (Jerry Nelson)
(Ernie is next to Herbert Birdsfoot's home. This is the same scene as this original skit.)
Ernie: Hi there! Ernie here. Bert had told me that I yelled at my ol' friend Herbert Birdsfoot by not borrowing the vacuum, and Bert was really upset about me not borrowing the vacuum from Herbert, just because our vacuum had been broken, so I'm not gonna do the bad thing anymore.
(Pause, he raises his thumb)
But to think of it, I'd give it a thumbs up by trying my best as I can to my ol' Herbert Birdsfoot...
(Pause, he begins to feel worried)
Wait a minute! I'm getting worried right now! What if Herbert was taking a bath? What if he was grumpy by not giving me a vacuum? And what if people got scared of him being naked? Well, I have to do it!
(Pause, Ernie comes to Herbert's door.)
Here's Herbert's front. I was quite afraid if Herbert Birdsfoot would think he can't give me a vacuum. That would be terrible!
(There is the last pause, Ernie thinks he will make it)
I think I should make it. I should ask Herbert Birdsfoot if he would let me keep his vacuum for a little while until Bert finally gets his new vacuum! Here I go...
(Knocks at Herbert's door. Herbert Birsfoot enters, fully dressed.)
Herbert Birdsfoot: Hi, Ernie!
Ernie: Oh, hi Herbert! I was wondering if I would borrow your vacuum a little while until my friend Bert gets his new vacuum. May I borrow it?
Herbert Birdsfoot: Sure! (Gives Ernie his vacuum.)
Ernie: Oh wow! Thanks a lot, Herbert! You're my best polite friend I know! I gotta go back home right now. Bye!
(Leaves, leaving Herbert feeling proud.)
What do you think of the script? It's got Ernie having good self-control.
