How about this one where Ernie and Bert wanted to watch tv in front of the same chair and they kept scheming back and forth to trick the other one out of it. Then they agree to share the chair, but then Herry comes along and tricks them both out of the chair so he can have it. But then they figure 3 can probably fit on the chair too. They barely all fit, so the conflict is finally resloved. But when Herry and Ernie find out that what is actually on tv is boring stuff like the weather and "The Wonderful World of Pigeons" , they leave and Bert has the chair all by himself.
My favorite thing from this skit was Bert's laugh after he tricked Ernie out of the chair. He tilted his pointy head back so far and busted out one of the biggest belly laughs he ever did. His laugh is funny enough anyway. And later Ernie would do his famous "kih hih hih hih hih" laugh too.

The trick that Herry used to swindle the chair from them was to tell E+B that there was a live dinosaur in their bedroom, having escaped from the museum. They both went to check it out; of course there really were no extinct reptiles among the beds bearing the E and the B.

Bert's first trick to get Ernie out of the chair was to switch the TV off and pretend to leave the room. But while E got up to turn the set back on, that's when B took the seat and laughed head-back. (While remote control did exist in the late 60s -- I think Zenith was among the first, calling it "space command" -- it was actually quite rare.) And though I can't say it's the first appearance, this particular skit was the first time I ever saw/heard Bert's trademarked "machine-gun" laugh. Ernie also laughed, his usual way, upon getting the chair back. Bert did a sarcastic imitation of the laugh, adding words like "...that was a really good thing to do to me."

When the 3 of them were snug in the chair, they were silent. Then Ernie broke the silence, and the conversation went something like this:

E: Bert?
B: Yeah.
E: What are we watching?
B: This is a marching band thing (the music up to this point sounded like it)
B: (pause) Then the weather comes on (to a short musical phrase)
B: Then "The Wonderful World of Pigeons" (to a unique musical score which I remember well, but can't recognize from anywhere else.)

After maybe 5 seconds since Bert's ID-ing the show, Ernie and Herry quietly and suddenly got up and left, each going a different direction while Bert in the middle stayed. Bert's final words, apparently oblivious to the fact his co-viewers vanished was "yeah... swing!"

Yeah I recall all those funny details from this very funny skit. As a little child , I at first didn't understand Bert's final line ( "Yeah..swing!") then on later viewings recognized it as the type of music he likes. (I remember one of the beach episodes where he play a transistor radio and says,"Oh boy! Swing!")
And Ernie's trick to get Bert out of the chair was funny too. He pretends to concede the chair to Bert and goes over to the window to look out of it. Then he says, "Wow! Why, there's an elephant right here on Sesame Street! Look at that!" Then Bert is very curious and excited and gets out of the chair while Ernie sits back in it. Apparently this was in the days when Big Bird was the only one who knew of The Snuffalupagus! Bert may not have been so impressed with an elephant on SS then.
And yeah, after Ernie does his "kih hih hih hih hih" laugh when he successfully sneaks possession of the chair back, Bert mimics his laugh and says," Cute. That's was real clever." And then Bert really freaks and aggressively tries to manhandle Ernie out of the chair! Where they discover they both can fit on it and thus share it.

Animated sketch of two both wanting the same chair

There was also an animated one with a boy and a girl fighting over the same chair:

Boy: "Don't you just love my chair?"
Girl: "Your chair? Ha! It happens to be my chair."
Boy: "It's mine!"
Girl: "It's mine!"
Boy: "It's mine!"
Girl: "It's mine!"

Then a dog intervenes: "Kids, please stop! Let's be sensible about this. Why don't you simply share the chair?"

Then the next scene shows the boy and girl both sharing the chair all happy and contented. But the dog is lying on the floor and says, "Aw phooey. Why don't I learn to keep my mouth shut?" I can't quite recall what he was upset about. I'm thinking it was that the kids were using him to rest their feet on?

The dog was upset because he was now relegated to sitting on the floor. Doggy was actually sitting in the chair while the kids were arguing over it, turning his head toward whoever was doing the talking. It was from the chair that he gave his sharing suggestion.

I had thought about that as a possibility but the only thing that seemed like that couldn't have been the case is because wouldn't the dog have realized that for the kids to both share the chair it would mean he would forced off? However, I guess he could have made an oversight about this. Or still another possibility is that the dog saw the skit with Ernie, Bert, and Herry and figured if those three could fit (and Herry is pretty darn big) then he and the boy and girl could too! :zany:
Anyway, glad it wasn't that they had their feet on him. That would be a little too cruel there! (then again, it was well before the days of PETA at least!)
