I heard that the UK and the USA saw different endings of this special. What are they? The only copy I have is from the UK.

I don't think the ending was changed. The version I saw at the Museum of Television and Radio had the same ending: Lily Tomlin and Dudley Moore discovering they're locked in the theater.

The endings are similar, but the dialogue is slightly different. In 1999, Odyssey aired the UK ending over the credits. That was the first time I had seen it. It's not a major difference, but it is a different take none the less.
