I don't believe they're wearing sunglasses, because they both can blink.

A friend of mine was asking me about this one time. He called Floyd "the guy with no eyeballs." I couldn't figure out what he meant, until he said "the guy with no eyeballs, but with eyesockets." I think that's bascially what it is.

The 'hollow black' of the eye IS their eye. The great thing about puppets is that they can be abstract and extreme in their design, and much of what is there can be 'supposed.'

Therefore, we know those are supposed to be his eyes and have accepted them as such regardless what ended up happening.

Kind of like Scooter's eyes are his glasses, and his pupils in them move based on what his eye movement is supposed to be. Floyd used to have some glass in those eyes I believe, but they got taken out. ("Gorgon Heap? Do you know?")

Don't you mean "Kind of like Scooter's glasses are his eyes?"

And when did his pupils ever "move"?!

I think Floyd originally had two oval eyes that didn't squish. I think they kind of sprakled. Then it was changed to the really cool roovy squishing eyes that allowed Jerry to come up with the great tradmark laught Floyd does when he shuts his eyes, moves back, and laughs away.

Oh? I didn't realize you were working as an English and grammer instructor!!

When a flash of light or a Piggy-Hi-yah! hit him, his eyes' pupils were moved; and just like the emoticon you used above ( ), and I HATE to use this as an example because we all know how I feel about them, but Muppet Babies showed his pupils closing to represent his eyes closing, and the same thing for Kermit's eyes, too.

BTW, yes, I did mean Scooter's glasses are his eyes. I'm just in a rush at work and trying to play at the same time!!!

Just one problem, Foz...we never SAW his pupils move. He would fall out of view and then reappear with moved pupils.

To compare, think Cookie Monster whose pupils we see move all the time. Cookie Monster's MOVE, but Scooter's ARE MOVED.

And just for my own good, is this one of those times where we consider Muppet Babies as part of the Muppet lifestyle/history/etc. of the Muppets or are we just considering TMS and the movies?

I know, it's just another of those 'supposed' things we're supposed to realize is happening.

It's like when someone is talking to my puppet, Muley, and they later explain the conversation and they're telling all about his different facial expressions he made while talking to them, about how his eyes got really wide, and..well...he isn't made to do that. His expression is always the same, it's just how they PERCEIVE his actions.

We, likewise, are supposed to perceive that Scooters pupils are moving, just like when Kermit reaches for the phone, and in another shot he picks it up, we perceive that his hand grasped the phone and picked it up. See?

And on the Janice note above, what about Chef's bushy eyebrows? He ain't got no eyes, neither! I'm surprised he hasn't cut off a finger or something!
