I'm just glad they didn't crop either of the specials into widescreen like they would on cable TV now.

And interestingly, even though Kermit's book-end appearances were included in Emmet Otter, the rest of his off-screen narration was omitted.
I kinda thought Kermit was supposed to be in it a little more. It's been a while since I've watched Emmet. :smirk:

Yeah, there's at least a couple of narration bits, but those were omitted, which I find odd, considering they put his on-screen appearances back in.

According to Craig Shemin, the narration wasn't a part of the original airing or or original master of the special; it was added for the ABC broadcast. And they couldn't find the original recordings of the narration, so they couldn't properly mix it with the older master they were probably working from.
