Hi, I would like to have some tips on everything you've got about Elmo. My daughter love Elmo so I want to surprise her with a very special gift, a home made Elmo replica. I don't want to sell it, I don't want to do shows with it, I just want to play with my daughter.

If anyone could help me with the size, the materials, the best shape or even the patterns and some tips on building it, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Find a jumbo sized elmo doll. unstitch the back remove some of the filling so you can get you hand in. You may have to cut teh hinge on the mouth plate so that you can move the mouth. But other then that, for just "playing around" your child will LOVE it.

thanks for the info. I looked at the jumbo elmo and it was over 100$ and it's a chubby version of Elmo. I find it heartbreaking to buy something inn good shape at that price and to open it up

I really wana try to build my own, I always wanted to be the guy who built puppets but never had the opportunity to do so!

I would suggest you look at the "Monstro" pattern on Project Puppet. If I'm not mistaken, it shows how to build a 'blank' monster similar in shape to Elmo, and then using the tutorials on this site, and at Project Puppet, you could add facial features to make him look right. I've tried their simple series, and gotten great results.
